Our Social Activities :

General Welfare Prathisthan ( GWP ), a sister concern of GPI, carries out different social activities. 4% of total turnover of GPI co-operative goes to GWP. The funds are utilized for Girls Education, AIDS Awareness, Environmental activities and income generating activities.

There are 5 primary schools, which is built or renovated by GWP. More than 125 girls are getting scholarship for attending schools, as girls are still discriminated for education.

AIDS awareness program of GWP was started since 1992 and it has been very successful program of GWP. Currently more than 107 staffs work full time at GWP to perform AIDS awareness in the highways of Nepal. GWP is working with FHI/USAID, Heidelberg University, Save the Children, and other international NGOs to rapidly aware people of Nepal about the threat of AIDS. It is working with sex worker, factory workers, police force, truck drivers, school students, college students to perform various awareness activities.

GWP is also active in environmental sector. It has done plantation program in the community and more than 4000 plants are growing in these areas.

After Five (5) Years of Plantation
GWP is running programs to stop girls trafficking by mobilizing teenager girls in group. The group works for protection of girls from being trafficked for sexual exploitation. The groups are actively engaged in awareness, campaign against girls trafficking in their respective areas. They also make saving and credit programs to strengthen the social, educational and economic status of girls. Currently there are 60 such groups mobilizing nearly 1000 girls. They are engaged in various income generating programs like chicken farming, goat keeping, buffalo keeping, cow raising, paper making, beauty parlor.
